| Youth Group takes on State Board of Equalization re: Alcopops Taxation
The BOE to Hold Hearing on Youth Group's Petition December 12, 2006
The young activists have petitioned the State Board of Equalization (BOE) to “appropriately tax flavored malt beverages as distilled spirits.”
In addition to increasing State tax revenue by approximately $40 million, the petition asserts, taxing alcopops as distilled spirits “would raise the price, and reduce appeal to young people.”
