California Charge for Harm Bill Heads to Assembly Health Committee

AB 1694, authored by Assembly Member Jim Beall and sponsored by Marin Institute, will be heard in the California Assembly Health Committee on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. The measure will create the Alcohol-Related Services Program to mitigate a portion of California's annual $38.4 billion in alcohol-related harm. The program would be funded by a new fee on the state's alcohol producers and importers and would raise more than $700 million per year. Please join Assembly Member Beall, Marin Institute, and the Charge for Harm Alliance to rally for the bill's passage on the steps of the Capitol at 11 a.m. The Health Committee hearing begins at 1:30 p.m.
