This audio-teleconference will focus on underage drinking in party settings. It will provide step by step information about how to prevent parties as well as how to break-up such parties in a manner that is safe and that can lead to changes in community norms about underage drinking parties. The audio-teleconference will also share specific information about how community volunteers can be incorporated into this work so that operations proceed efficiently and without liability.

The purpose of the Council is to coordinate the State’s strategic efforts to reduce the inappropriate use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD). The Council will discuss various ATOD prevention efforts, including its strategic planning process and updates on the implementation of the two federal grant programs, which the Council oversees.

The scope of the Symposium is broadly defined to include studies of determinants of drinking, drinking practices, attitudes, and problems in general as well as in clinical populations, and the social and institutional responses to drinking-related problems. Papers based on empirical research and action research as well as theoretical and conceptual papers will be welcome. Participants from the whole range of social and health sciences are expected.
