What they say:

"Beer advertising and marketing materials should not portray sexual passion, promiscuity, or any other amorous activity as a result of consuming beer."

- Beer Institute Advertising and Marketing Code

What they do:

This past May, Canadian-based Molson USA launched a new, sexually suggestive ad campaign, called "Friends". Each ad features two lines like Friends Play Ping Pong, "Friends" Play Doctor . "Molson purposely targets young people," says Molson USA's Vice President of Marketing, Steve Breen. "When beer drinkers turn 30 they have their beer selections narrowed to three, in which Molson USA hopes to be included." This disturbing ad campaign suggests that drinking Molson beer will lead to sex but ignores the strong correlation between alcohol consumption and sexual assault. This ad campaign is far from playful. It promotes hazardous and irresponsible sexual behavior.
